Fragmentation Problem

The situation where content teams optimise for one audience at a time - humans, search engines or neither - without achieving synergy across all three layers simultaneously.

The Fragmentation Problem is the organisational root cause of poor 3LA scores. UX designers optimise for human engagement. SEO specialists optimise for search engines. Nobody owns the AI layer. The result is content that ranks well on Google but is never cited by AI, or content that is technically solid but that humans do not read to the end. Research shows that a page can score 85/100 for human readability and still only 35/100 for AI discoverability - not because the content is poor, but because the three layers were never designed to work together. The Three-Layer Approach is the direct answer to the Fragmentation Problem: one framework, one process, three audiences optimised simultaneously. The solution is not to hire three specialists - it is to build a content process where Layer 1, Layer 2 and Layer 3 are designed as one coherent system from the outset.
